Morgan House Reviews

The house was stunning and very clean on arrival. Very spacious with stunning views will not hesitate to book this house again if were staying in the area.
Jacqueline
We really enjoyed staying there. It is a spacious house with a lovely conservatory, which is really useable in the heat of the summer, due to the large walnut tree a nice bonus. We spent a lot of time in there, overlooking the big, enclosed, garden, a lovely feature of this property with open outlook over a field. I suppose you might say it is plain in decor and furniture is a little basic, but adequate for our needs, plenty of seating in various spaces. The beds were really comfortable. It is otherwise well equipped. It had everything we needed except perhaps for a bit more cutlery having loads of mugs was brilliant. Having ensuite, large bathrooom and downstairs wc, was great as we were travelling with elderly relative, who then had their own bathroom and also easy access to loo facilities downstairs too. The stairs were also manageable due to their layout not too steep with middle landing all other points of entry were quite easy to negotiate. Loads of books, something for everyone and some games too were a nice addition. It is also one of the quietest places we have ever stayed in. No traffic noise just the birds. Middlezoy is a friendly place and lots of places to head off for a dog walk. Convenient drive times for many of the popular places in the area. We would definitely stay there again, if the opportunity arose. Very dog friendly which was important for us.

A charming property in a very pleasant village. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our group has stayed in many properties over the years and this compares very well.

We had a fabulous long weekend at Morgan House. It was perfect for us and the dogs. The large fully enclosed garden was excellent for the dogs to let off some steam. The house had everything we needed in terms of facilities, was a great location for nearby walks and provided a perfect space for relaxing
Kristine
Cracked crockery , not enough cups and cutlery The pillows are so flat The gardener came on the Wednesday with his dogs and the did their mess in the garden. He was there a good couple of hours and kicked the apples of the tree into next doors garden. This is a dog friendly house and it upset my dogs alot as there were dogs in the garden. Why cant the gardener come on change over day
The house was lovely. But this is the first Sykes property l have not been fully pleased with. Overall it was clean but the windows are grubby, the toilet door in the main bathroom didnt lock. The toilet seat was loose too. The hand shower in main bathroom hose covering coming off. Only one bed side table in bedroom with double bed. A shelf which is in an odd place was this to replace the bedside table? No proper measuring jug the one there no markings on or scales to weigh food with. No large tin to cook in. The oven sides keep filling off when you pull the tray out. The electric tripping out which l understand from the gardener happens due to changeover to another power station. The instructions to getting in garage not clear. Took us 20 min to find how to get in. Information folder not that informative. Have usually got info of attractions about where your staying and its places of interest. The church there is full of history well worth a visit like the little stall with fresh produce on. Have left leaflets of attractions in it for other people staying. The step for the trampoline turned up while we were there. I hope it has been put on. The garden is lovely to sit in of an evening and enjoy the sun going down. Some will say l am being picking but l have stayed in lovely maintained Sykes properties. This place needs a little TLC and l and my family would return.
Property wasnt ready at 3pm as was still being cleaned so had to ask cleaner if we could access property whilst she finished cleaning which was a bit annoying as after a long drive we just wanted to get straight in and unpacked. The door to the main bathroom wouldnt lock as lock is faulty. Not really acceptable in a property that is like to be shared by more than one household. Also the door would open if the downstairs front door was opened as the draught would blow it open. There was a lot of dust on the wooden headboard on the master bedroom. One of the table lamps didnt work in the twin room. Surprised that this property doesnt have a barbeque so maybe a good addition to the property. The built in fridgefreezer doors werent attached to the kitchen wooden doors as presume the latches had been previously broken and not repaired so you had to open the wooden doors first then the fridge freezer door. Finally the ladder to the trampoline is missing the cleaner did advise it had been taken the week prior but wasnt replaced during our week there so hopefully a replacement had been ordered. I would say maybe this property needs rerating by Sykes as is starting to look tired and furniture downstairs could do with replacing.

Claire

Andrew
The property was ideally situated for a family gathering, to celebrate a birthday. Family travelled up from Cornwall and down from Gloucester. The house itself was warm and welcoming and we appreciated the gifts left in the kitchen. The house was enjoyed by all members of the family, including a 3 year old and the dog.
Charlotte
Lovely stay, very clean and tidy. Looking to return next year
Matthew
The house is really nice and is in a quiet location. It's a good base for exploring the many things to do in Somerset. Lovely garden with a trampoline which the kids loved. We stayed as two families and it worked well. The shower in the main bathroom is really good and there is a big bath also. Everyone said the beds are comfortable. One of the singles could do with tightening up as it squeaked a bit, but nothing major. There is plenty of seating in the living room and there are board games and lots of dvds in the house. All in all a very nice week away.
A little short of saucepans and forks for a large property. Lovely village although pub was closed Thursday evening even though the website said it opened at 6.30.conservatory a little disappointing as was more like a home gym but overall very enjoyable
Josephine
The house was lovely, very clean and welcoming treats were much appreciated. We would have liked more Christmas decorations and glasses but these were minor issues. If the house is being let for a large party at Christmas, more dishes are being cooked so an extra oven would have helped! But this is obviously impractical! We had a fabulous stay, thank you very much.
Graeme
We had a lovely weekend at Morgan House . The house is very spacious and comfortable. We had 2 small issues with the lounge but Lorna promptly repaired them with little fuss and was super friendly. We would happily return to Middlezoy .Many thanks to all . The Bennetts

The main bathroom door handle sticks and I was locked in twice my husband had to shoulder the door to open it. The main shower door does not open and close properly. slip mats would be useful as would somewhere to put shower gel and shampoo. there is no hair drier or dressing table had to use windowsill. Low energy bulbs made the rooms dark and dingy. Kitchen cupboards covering fridge and freezer not fitted to appliance and kitchen knife drawer had a large gap in the base. more information about where to go and what to do would be useful and also doctor dentist or vet information in case needed.
Charith
We were a group of 5 had a great time a week at Morgan House. Great big house with a great big garden. My two boys aged 8 and 3 loved it there. Perfect place for quiet holiday in the country with pretty much everything around. quite a few places to visit nearby too. And not to forget the iconic 17th century pub The George Inn within 5 minutes walk. Truly great experience. Highly recommend.
