Harbour Cottage Reviews

A well appointed cottage. The location being in the centre of town was brilliant for access to all the shops. When inside the cottage we felt far from the 'maddening crowd' with a wonderful view over the harbour from the rear seating area. There were 8 people staying and it never felt cramped. The bedrooms were lovely three double and one twinThe master bedroom with ensuite had the most amazing view over the harbour. We all said we will book again.

Excellent cosy cottage with everything you could possibly need for your stay in Watchet. Good communication about our booking and excellent car parking . Thank you both to the owner and Sykes for a lovely stay, we will return .
Staying at Harbour Cottage was amazing. Everything was just perfect. There was everything we needed and more. I would 100 recommend Sykes Cottages. Janet the owner was very helpful with a small plumbing problem. Acted on it immediately. So much care and attention. I will definitely book again. Watchet has everything you want or need, pubs, good food outlets, very friendly people. Interesting places to visit. THANK YOU SYKES top marks on everything.

This is the second time we have stayed at Harbour Cottage and hope to book a third visit. Perfectly situated with wonderful views from the rear of the property. Very comfortable and well equipped. Would highly recommend
The cottage was well equipped and located in a quiet village. It's an excellent base for exploring north Somerset coast.
Cottage in a wonderful position, overlooking the water and close to shops and restaurants. The owner was extremely helpful.
Hannah
This cottage is a lovely place to stay. Have stayed there 2 times now as I have family in watchet. The rooms are nice and big and plenty of space to relax and also entertain. Come the evening there is a lovely view out on the terrace area of the harbour wall. Janet the cottage owner is lovely and communication is great. Close to all the shops, pubs and restaurants Well worth staying here.
Kathleen
A delightful house, very spacious, historic while being immaculately clean and with everything we needed. The location in central Watchet could not have been more convenient. Inevitably given the location there are passersby, but we were not disturbed by noise and indeed by 9pm or so it was distinctly quiet! No private parking but the owner will get you a permit for the car park which is literally just across the street and is absolutely no problem. The view over the harbour is great. There are nice walks in and around Watchet itself, and we found it convenient for visits to the Quantocks and westwards to Dunster and Porlock. I've no hesitation in recommending Harbour Cottage.
Just a perfect holiday home right at the sea. Very cosy, super clean and nice style. Everything you might need is there. Good heating and beautiful views. The Pebbles pub next door is an amazing place, lots of live music and very friendly locals. The chippy is excellent, as is the Indian restaurant down the road. Perfect location right in the centre, but since it's a dead end street, it's super quiet as well. Janet is a very friend supportive host. We'll be back for sure.
Comfortable cottage that is bit bit of step back in time. Keeping true to the cottage theme with owners decor. The owner left clear instructions for us to use this cottage . However the heating could not be altered because the the temperature thing wasn't working . Although when the owner was told she said that she would alter the temperature remotely should we want that. Location is absolute perfect, so near the sea and backing onto the harbour . The only downside is the parking arrangement which could not be helped There were lots of choice of eating , shopping and drinking venues very near We particularly liked Pebbles Tavern The cottage was super clean . We only needed to use 1 bedroom but it was nice to have the choice. Thank you to Janet for the use of the cottage
Patricia
Lovely cottage , great location would definitely come again
We really enjoyed our stay at Harbour Cottage. The property was clean, very well equipped and there was plenty of space for our party of 8 adults. We particularly enjoyed the patio overlooking the harbour which we were lucky enough to be able to use every day. Watchet is a lovely little harbour village with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It's also a great base for exploring West Somerset and Exmoor and of course the steam railway on the doorstep is well worth supporting. Thank you for having us. We would certainly love to return one day.
Nathan
Great house and great location in watchet very well stocked with everything you need for a holiday stay. Terrace overlooking the harbour was lovely in the sunshine.
A lovely cottage in a great location, right in the centre of Watchet. Watchet is a lively little place with easy access to Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Somerset Coast Path. The handy beach was great for the dog, but not really a bucket and spade destination
Patricia
The holiday cottage was delightful. Full of character and very clean. Everything well thought out and lots of utensils, crockery, pans etc. The owner was very helpful and we really appreciated the free parking for one car. Watchet was lovely and the people extremely friendly so hope to go there again.
Lovely, homely cottage in the quaint village of Watchet. We were a 3 generation family group and all of us loved our stay including the dog! The cottage is really well equipped with comfortable beds and a really well equipped kitchen, so we could happily cook at home with a big kitchen table to enjoy our meals. The top floor with the ping pong table and huge amount of games was a big hit with the kids. We had a lovely meal at the Star Inn, and there's lots of local pubs to enjoy a drink. We hopped on the steam train to Minehead, drove to LyntonLynmouth and there's lots of lovely places within an easy drive, as well as walks around Watchet Harbour. Sitting outside on the terrace for a coffee in the morning sunshine was bliss. Highly recommend.
Lovely property, a bit of a Tardis as much larger inside than it appears from the front. Fabulous views from the rear and the terrace. The fact it is in the middle of the older part of the town with the Coop 5 minutes walk away makes it a great location for an effortless towncountryseaside break. And that log burner made it so cosy coming in from a cold, crisp winter walk. Would recommend.

My party had a wonderful holiday at Harbour Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and spotless. It's best feature is a wonderful terrace overlooking the harbour. We made good use of it. The Cottage is situated right in the centre of the village with 3 pubs, 2 restaurants, 1 fish and chip shop and various tearooms and small specialist shops to choose from, all within easy walking distance. The car park is literally across the road and one car park permit is included with the holiday. We had a second car and it only cost 25 to get a 7 days permit. A bracing walk along the pier there are 2 of them with the dog every morning was fabulous. Again minutes from the house. There is a wonderful arts centre with excellent restaurant at the other end of the Esplanade again no more than 10 minutes walk away. All in all, I would recommend Harbour cottage to anyone.
We had a lovely week at Harbour Cottage, it is very clean, well equipped and comfortable we loved sitting on the terrace watching the comings and goings! Watchet is a very friendly place and our little dog was made welcome wherever we went, there is everything you could need all within easy walking distance further afield we loved Porlock Weir we had great communication with Janet prior to and during our stay. Will definitely return.
This Harbour side Cottage is in a great location very close to all the facilities the Village has to offer. Everything required for a comfortable stay was provided and well maintained.
Well appointed and comfortable house in a great location. It was lovely to have breakfast out on the patio watching the comings and goings on the harbour. Handy for pubs and takeaways and there was lots going on in the town and great fossil hunting down by the shore.
Great location for pubs, fish and chips, Kebab shop and lovely gift shops. House was perfect.
Michael
Cottage is well situated for seeing the area and within the village of Watchet itself. The cottage had everything needed and was very clean and cool on the hot days. Watchet village itself is a very friendly place with quite a lot going on. All round an excellent plac eto stay.
Amanda
We had a very enjoyable stay at Harbour Cottage. As a group of 5 adults and a baby, it was very comfortable and well equipped. Communication with the owner was excellent before and during our stay. It was our first time in this part of the country and Watchet is a delightful village with everything you could need pretty much on the doorstep. It was a great base for exploring. We made the mistake of going in to Minehead on a Saturday which was heaving with lots of drunken groups which were all on one of the weekends at the Butlins it was not pleasant. We revisited on the Monday which was much better. Having read previous reviews we tried the Spice Merchant in the village and agree that it was excellent. We also had pizza in the Bell pub which was ok. We would definitely recommend Harbour Cottage and would stay again if we were visiting the area.
Arthur Andrew
Delightful cottage in most superb location and spotlessly clean the cleanest accommodation we have ever had, all needs catered for. The Bell opposite gave us lovely Sunday roast with a complimentary easter egg! Excellent and very friendly service. Nearby lake most enjoyable for our Kayak with super scenery and friendly staff. Plenty to entertain in and around the the area. Very happy in all respects.
Absolutely lovely cottage, in a perfect location. We were a family of 6. Two of my family members have walking difficulties,so proved the ideal location. We all loved Watchet and the harbour area, which we had great views from the cottage. Fabulous pubs on the door step. With a special mention for the Pebbles Tavern. Staff were lovely. Spice Merchant IndianBangladesh Restaurant amazing best I've ever had. Highly recommend would definitely stay in Harbour Cottage again.
The cottage has had some new sofas since last year and mattress in top bedroom was new. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect, with a fish and chip shop next door but one and the fantastic Pebbles bar next to that. We highly recommend the food and service at the Sun, and if you like Indian then Spice Merchant is not to be missed. In fact if you didnt want to be out and about too much on your holiday Harbour Cottage has everything you could need on its doorstep for a perfect stay. Highly recommended.
Samantha
Harbour cottage is ideally placed a few steps from the esplanade and a minute from the pebbly beach. Ideally placed for shops and a stroll through town. The cottage has a very wellequipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The table tennis table was an added bonus. It also has a sitout and it was lovely watching the tide go in and out and watching people strolling or fishing along the sea wall. The sound of the waves was very soothing. Conveniently placed along the West Somerset Railway you can also ride the steam train for days out.
We had a very enjoyable week at Harbour Cottage. The kitchen and terrace have a view over Watchet harbour and it was a delight to watch all the comings and goings and the tides coming in and out. The cottage itself is well equipped, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We had a lot of fun with the table tennis table. Good location for exploring the Somerset and north Devon coast. Porlock, Lynmouth and Dunster castle were particular favourites.
We had a lovely family holiday staying at Harbour Cottage in August. Relaxing week pottering about Watchet and Somerset with lovely weather. Absolutely lovely old cottage to stay in, has everything you need and plenty space for everyone. Loved sitting out early morning having breakfast in the sunshine and again in the evening for a few relaxing drinks. Also had a perfect view of the brilliant flying display as part of the carnival from the patio. Kids thoroughly enjoyed their attic room and playing ping pong there too. Would definitely recommend.
Bernard
A wonderful place to stay with everything you and your family or friends could possibly need to enjoy a fabulous holiday. Very comfortable beds and very nice furniture. Some beautiful items to admire but not touch. Loads of cutlery, pots pans etc. All in a splendid central location with great views over the harbour and beyond.
Really nice holiday cottage right in the town
Perfectly situated for all the local shops, pubs and restaurants. Well equiped for spending time indoors if the weather turns sour. Good curtious messsages of contact from Janet the owner with welcome message and reminder info of what to do when vacating. We will definately be returning in the near future.
Lovely and characterful holiday cottage. Well equipped, good communication and information from owners. Lots of space. Boys enjoyed the table tennis. Watchet is a real quirky and friendly town. We really enjoyed our stay.
Cheralyn
Had a beautiful week away in Harbour Cottage. The cottage was perfect for our stay. It was very clean and well equipped and everything was thought of by the owners. Had lovely views of the harbour and perfect location for travelling around the area. Great little shops and restaurants right on your doorstep. Perfect place to stay.
This was a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location it was spotlessly clean and so very comfortable and homely. As a family we had a wonderful holiday would recommend visiting Dunster Castle and Lynmouth we certainly look forward to staying in Harbour cottage again
Lorraine
We had a lovely week in Harbour Cottage the photos do not do it justice and the terrace overlooking the channel was just lovely. The cottage was spotlessly clean and there was plenty of room for my family, the grandparents and our dog! Watchet provided a rich seam of activities from the museum just outside to markets on the esplanade, a concert by the local wind band which we thoroughly enjoyed, a ride on the steam train, meals in the West Somerset Hotel and a lovely deli to name just a few.
