The Mount Reviews

Harriet
This was our fourth stay at The Mount, my family and I absolutely love it here! The house has been beautifully restored throughout, and all facilities and equipment that you might need is available plus so much more. The location is wonderful, nestled high on the side of the valley we wake to birdsong each morning and fabulous views, and yet it's only a short walk into Dulverton. There are lovely walks directly from the property also. We will be back again!
Excellent property. It felt very homely. All rooms are large and all bedrooms are very homely. Well equipped for relaxing, cooking and spending time together.
A group of nine of us family group all adults booked The Mount for a week in October, staying for different lengths of time min 3 nights, max 7. It was the second time we'd been, and we all enjoyed it just as much as we had first time round. The house is very comfortable and wellequipped, and a week's booking in the autumn represents extremely good value. The area is beautiful, too we did Knightshayes, Dunster Castle, the Valley of the Rocks, Tarr Steps and various other local walks, some from the front door. Dulverton itself is an interesting and attractive little town, too. We'd certainly recommend it, and may well be back again in the future.

We very much enjoyed our time at the Mount which was perfect for us. The house is very spacious, wellmaintained and equipped with good sized bedrooms, and a wonderful basement with a table tennis and a music room with a digital piano. Great for the musicians in our group. The pretty village of Dulverton is a few minutes walk away with excellent independent shops including a butcher, deli and greengrocers plus a Coop and welcoming pubs Wood's being the standout. The village is an excellent place from which to explore Exmoor and the north SomersetDevon coast and there are many walks which start in the village itself. Highly recommended.

This house is great from start to finish. Loads of room for everyone. The house is up the top of a very narrow steep hill but this only adds to its charm . The owner couldnt do enough for us before our arrival. Only real suggestion is to make sure you bring your first day groceries with you as nearest proper super market is 30 mins away.
Elaine
The Mount is extremely well equipped with everything we needed. We would have liked a washing line there is a tumble dryer but the weather was so good it seemed a shame to use it. Instead we hung washing on the airer provided and put it outside. This is only a minor thing though! Being on a steep hill certainly tested our leg muscles!
Stephen
The Mount surpassed our expectations. On arrival we found the property to be clean, bright and welcoming. The house is very well equipped especially in the kitchen and laundry facilities. The lounge areas are comfortable with plenty of seating. There is a large stock of books, board games and toys. The games room in the big basement has table tennis and table football together with another lounge, tv & even a piano. The bedrooms are all a good size with comfortable beds. A wonderful base from which to explore this beautiful, interesting area.
Kenneth
Beautiful house, great view over Dulverton. The owners have thought of everything to make it a relaxing holiday for us all. Perfect.
An excellent property, well presented, well equipped, spacious, clean, ample parking, great views. The only downside is an incredibly steep drive up to it & I mean very steep , first gear job.
A fabulous property that has been tastefully refurbished to restore it to its former glory. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this property it has everything and more that you need for a comfortable stay. There is an excellent circular walk right on the doorstep through Burridge Woods and the town has all the amenities you would require. You can also order a grocery delivery to the door from one of the big supermarkets locally. Go explore and enjoy.
Harriet
This was our third stay at The Mount and we had a great time there again. The house is very special, beautifully restored, comfortable and super wellequipped. We love the outdoor space and the views, and the location is ideal for popping into Dulverton and accessing lovely local walks, as well as the Moors and coast. Communication with the owners was very straightforward. We will definitely be back again soon!
This is such a great house for a big group we were eight as there is so much space. We werent really there long enough to make use of everything, particularly all the board games and the library of books! I found the induction hob a little fiddly although most of the others managed without too much trouble. Personally, I also found the duvet in my room single beds too warm in September. But these are minor quibbles and everyone had a really enjoyable long weekend, helped by the local facilities all within walking distance.
Stuart
The property was situated in a lovely area. We found the house to be very clean and had a great deal to occupy the children in our party, with table tennis, table football and other activities available. The large living areas provided opportunity for our group of ten to enjoy various activities, both communally and separately.
Great house quiet and peaceful, not far to walk to town , river and park
We had a lovely holiday, it was great that we were able to bring the full family together thanks to your large house.
We had a fabulous stay in this amazing home. Everything we could have wanted for a comfortable stay was included. The home is absolutely beautiful with stunning views over the village and countryside. Would definitely recommend and would absolutely love to stay in the future.
We had a wonderful time at The Mount! Very comfortable, lots of room, a wonderful selection of kitchen equipment, books and games for both adults and children and very close to Dulverton. A great holiday!
A lovely house, the setting takes some beating with glorious views. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with every we needed and more. The front door needs a little TLC as the Yale lock has come loose . There are some great walks from the house out to several iron age forts which we enjoyed. Would definitely love to stay here again sometime.
It's an interesting house, beautifully restored and in a lovely location. There's plenty of space inside. The kitchen is extremely wellequipped and there are masses of toys, books, games and DVDs.
Nicola
This property is fantastic and was excellently equipped to cater for every eventuality. The basement was a big hit with us and was a lovely space to relax in. The location was fantastic and Dulverton itself is a beautiful little village. The owner Helen, was responsive and very helpful. We will definitely be returning
We have had a fantastic few days at the Mount to celebrate my sisters 70th birthday. It is a very special property. Its location is second to none, the most amazing views! And a two minute walk into the beautiful village on Dulverton. With its lovely eateries and Thia takeaway
Harriet
Our favourite property in the South West for our family of 10 to stay at, ages ranging from 8 to 75. The Mount is a beautiful and tranquil place, but has entertainment and comfort for everyone. The location is wonderful, great views up and down the valley and an easy walk into the village although pretty steep on the walk back!. We all look forward to staying here again in the future.
Lovely week at The Mount. Beautiful location, excellent facilities and very well maintained. Cant wait to go back.
Graham
Lovely setting and great accommodation. Cottage had everything we could want, particularly in the kitchen.
Lovely house within reach of all shops etc. Grandchildren particularly love wii & the dozens of games & puzzles & of course table tennis & table football in the basement when they could shove adults out of the way!! plenty of books & particularly enjoyed book of photos of renovation of original house. Will certainly recommend to friends.also the lovely lunch & service at the bridge pub!! Thank you Dulverton you were all fab
Beautiful house. Really well equipped. Lovely owners.
Beautiful house with lovely views. Comfortable and spacious. Helen was really helpful with local information and suggestions of where to go.
The Mount has been the best holiday property we have ever used over the years, with so much space to spread out a group of ten adults and children. The facilities were superb and the house ever so comfortable and what a view over Dulverton and the river Barle valley! We definitely hope to be back in the future.
Cheryl
A wonderful village with all you could ask for and more. The house was huge and the beds were all very comfortable. We enjoyed some great walks in the doorstep and took a drive to the beach one day. The local water sports 15min drive were amazing such friendly staff. The kids loved the table tennis, and we all loved sitting out front enjoying the views. We saw an array of wildlife including a fleeting glimpse of a red deer in the top garden. The open outlook was perfect for some stargazing, taking advantage of the dark skies area. Highly recommended.
Christine
Beautiful house, very nicely decorated and equipped. Beds were all very comfortable, only slight problem was the lack of a functioning sun umbrella, and as the week we stayed was a particularly hot week, it was purely by luck that one of our party was coming a day later, so was asked to bring sun umbrellas from home, which we really needed. Otherwise we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend The Mount..stunning views.
Harriet
The Mount is the best large group property we have stayed in. It is a beautiful house with lovely grounds in a stunning location and every little detail has been carefully thought through. We wanted for nothing! Will definitely stay here again.
Rachel
We had the most amazing long weekend at The Mount at the end of April for an early celebration of Mums 80th birthday. The age range of our group of nine was from 5 to 91 and the house perfectly suited all our needs. It is beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly want, and more board games and books than I have ever seen outside of Waterstones! It is a magical place, a house in which you cant help but make happy memories. None of us wanted to leave there were tears! and all of us want to return. Thankyou for creating such a special place x
Mathew
The owners of the mount have done a fantastic job a creating a wonderful holiday let. The pictures dont do it justice for how spacious it is for a property that sleeps 10. The amount there is to do just staying around the house in terms of games and puzzles almost makes it a shame to go out. The house is immaculate and the information provided to help settle in is informative. Id fully recommend The Mount and wouldnt hesitate staying there again if visiting the area.
This is a really excellent house, well equipped and exceptionally comfortable, with some commanding views across to Dulverton. The walking around the house is lovely up and down the river and across Exmoor. There are excellent local shops.
Wonderful house with fantastic views in a great location. A huge amount of room, well equipped, with very comfortable beds.
Robert
The whole weekend was a success in every way, we all loved the house and wished we could have had a longer stay.
Wonderful house in a beautiful village. Beautiful walks right from the house and just down the hill to great shops and pubs. Very steep hill up to the house but plenty parking in the village if you couldnt walk it!
What a fabulous house. The owners have thought of everything, from entertaining children to occupying the adults should the weather be bad. We were lucky the weather was fab the whole week.
A fabulous big, old property that has been tastefully restored with everything you need and lovely views over the village. Game tables plus board games are great for rainy days. Dulverton is a friendly, thriving village with shops & pubs all an easy walk down the hill & a good workout walking back up. You dont need to go anywhere else as the shops cater for all you need & there are walks starting from near the house. But there is also lots of lovely places nearby to visit too.
Lovely clean warm house. Spacious and comfortable.
