Surf View Reviews

A family group of adults with four children and two babies we had plenty of space in a beautiful house. We had everything we needed for the wonderful holiday we had and the house was in such a perfect place looking out over the hillside and bay with a safe footpath to walk to the beach. It was a perfect week and we would love to return in the future!
Charles
House and garden is fabulous with amazing views across Woolacombe, especially at sunset. Lived up to it's name of Surf View! Layoutspace is great for 14 people and property very well equipped with the outdoor BBQ a welcome addition. Joining info was super helpful as were the tips of where to go in the area. Cleaners finished early so we were able to access property promptly. There were a couple of things the cleaners had forgotten to do, but Sarah the owner was super helpful in getting things sorted swiftly. Only additional info I'd include in the listing is detail on the annexe as we had young children in there perhaps providing a floor layout would help.
Surfview is a lovely large, comfortable, spacious home set in a stunning location! My family and I had a fabulous week here enjoying exhilarating walks through beautiful countryside down to an enormous expanse of beach, watching spectacular sunsets from the verandah, celebrating a special birthday in the garden. All in all, a wonderful holiday home exceeding our expectations.
Richard
We were so impressed with the cleanliness and equipment of this home. There were 13 of us there sleeps 14 and had a wonderful time. It is just a 10 minute walk to the beach and facilities in Woolacombe village so very well situated.
What a place! ! Surf View was pretty much the perfect location for our reunion of 7 old school friends. The house was easy to find with the extra detail provided by Sarah, who was also super responsive and accommodating to our enquiry about getting in a little early. The house layout is so spacious and comfortable, and beautifully decorated with art and funky details like the lighthouse lamp. The eating and lounge areas in particular had lots of room so we didn't have to be clustered together. We were particularly impressed with every bedroom having ensuite facilities. The kitchen was well equipped so we could cook easily at home, though we also had a very good meal at the Watersmeet Hotel. We walked down to the beach each day, and also found our way to the National Trust walking route which goes up and across the neighbouring hill. A good path most of the way other than the exceptionally wet section at the beginning section after Storm Ashley! All in all, we had a wonderful time this was the best place we've ever stayed and we're planning a repeat visit next year.

Property was clean and well presented, all bedrooms are ensuite so no queuing beds very comfortable, lounge and dining rooms accommodated entire family , children loved the games room. View from the lounge was stunning out to sea and Lundy island.
Extremely comfortable property, all the home comforts, fantastic views at all times of the day. We have been holidaying in Woolacombe for 8 years, this was our first year taking a house over a lodge at a local holiday park, with our growing family we just needed more space, and this property has that in spades. Proximity to the beach is another major positive, we couldn't fault it, just perfect. The home owner was so responsive to any query we had, no matter how trivial, we'll be back!.
A fantastic property in beautiful surroundings. Everything available for a very enjoyable stay and host Sarah was very accommodating.
Surf View is spacious, clean, well furnished and maintained. Ideal for large gatherings of family and friends, warm, comfortable and close to Woolacombe Sands beach with stunning views particularly sunsets over the sea as well as being dog friendly. Sarah, the property owner, has been outstanding in her approachability , helpfulness and has always interacted with me in a friendly, professional manner. I have consistently felt that nothing has been too much trouble for her .Thank you for a wonderful stay. Ann

We loved our alltooshort stay but hope to return as a group next year. Everything was spot on. The only glitch was that some of us were rather chilly one night, which the owner thought was because the previous people had been too hot and turned down the radiators or thermostat. Oh, and the turn off down to the house is a bit hairy a sudden turn off very easy to miss and then very narrow and bumpy. You pray not to meet another car. But it's lovely to be able to just walk down the path to the seafront. No car needed! I have only given the grade 5 recommendation because that relates to Sykes Cottages, who were rather opaque and obstructive about the possibility of an earlier arrival the stated time of 5pm is quite late. When I contacted the owner directly she was very obliging and helpful, and in direct contradiction to what SC had told me, said she often negotiated earlier arrivals via SC especially out of season. They had said to me, and I quote, that 'it was their policy never to contact the owners about early check ins'. So I was left feeling pretty annoyed about that. But as I said, the house and location are lovely, as is the owner. Sykes, not so brilliant.
Can the lane to surf view be improved
This is an ideal cottage for family gatherings especially those with young children. Our grandchildren loved their walks to and from the wonderful beach. Having the facilities of the holiday village and shop within a few yards was also a bonus. Plenty of parking and so many extras for cooking and general living. The welcome email from the owner was also very welcome. Highly recommended.
Definitely the best holiday home I have ever stayed in. It was spacious for 9 of us plus 2 dogs even though the weather meant we were inside more than usual on holiday. A pleasant walk down to the beach, walks in the hills above and a gorgeous sea view from the house itself.
Surf view is an absolutely wonderful cottage, our party made up of 14 adults from 2 families had a fantastic week there. The bedrooms are lovely and the master suite is sooo big, comfy beds all rooms ensuite, great place. Massive kitchen, really well equipped and the main dining table in the conservatory seated everyone comfortably and was perfect for group meals and games. The outside space is also lovely with plenty of seating, patio areas with a beautiful view down to Woolacombe beach, stunning. We also took the opportunity to have a couple of BBQs in the beautiful June sunshine. Thanks Sarah and family for being so helpful and sharing your beautiful location with us, we would thoroughly recommend surfview to anyone, brilliant place, great holiday location.

This was a perfect holiday home for our family get together ages ranging from 5 weeks to 74 years. Having en suite bathrooms with every bedroom made life easier with 14 of us and there was plenty of room to play in the large garden. The walk to the beach took 20 minutes with small children, 10 minutes for adults without children! We will definitely be going again.

We had a lovely time at Surf View, super location and perfect for a large group. Lots of nice places to visit in the area and as a bonus we had very nice weather. We enjoyed our family stay!
Superb stay in a lovely property. One small problem, tv didnt work in my room but that didnt bother me.
Our midwinter Christmas stay at Surf View was wonderful. Our ages spanned from 1 to 79 and we all enjoyed the house, Woolacombe, the beach, the local area and the sea very much. Sarah, the owner of the house was very attentive to our needs and helpful in every way. 7 good sized bedrooms all en suite gave our party of 8 a little one plenty of space and privacy. Our first visit to Woolacombe was a winner!
Graeme
Surf View is a great place to meet up with friends and family. The ensuite facilities are brilliant and accommodation and parking generous, while the playroom was a bonus for children and adults especially when the rain kept us in. There are walks from the house to several pubs, we visited the Jube and the Old Mill and both were very welcoming and child friendly! The 10 minute walk down the track to the shop was also extremely useful when supplies ran low!
Jeanette
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this comfortable and beautiful house, despite extremely variable October weather. Had a morning on the beach and games in the garden, board games and a fish n chip supper from Squires in the conservatory. The children did not want to leave
We had a fantastic time at Surf View. The 7 on suite bedrooms meant no queuing for showers in the morning. The facilities and kitchen were great. Plenty of outside space for parking. Barbequed most nights. The beach is a short 15 minute walk, or a 5 minute drive into Woolacombe. The vast beach is excellent for children, with a very shallow slope. Surfing, paddle boarding etc. The fish & chip shop in Morthoe will prepare and sell fish for the barbeque, excellent. We had a 19 month old child with us and the property had loads of space for him to wander about, supervised of course. Surf View is a very sociable place to stay for family gatherings, we all had an amazing time and would recommend this place to anyone. We talked to people in the caravan park next door and they paid 700 for a caravan for the week, 3 groups, 3 caravans. I gave them Surf Views details. Surf view was good value for money.
Elinor

We have just had a great weekend at surf view, the place is in a great location and everyone in our group loved it, especially having their own en suite. There was 14 of us but we never felt on top of each other in fact we had such a good time we are going to make it a annual event
Philip
