Lily House Reviews

Michael
A nice big house but unfortunately the heating went wrong, was fixed after the weekend. Couldnt use the ovens as they were on automatic and no instructions to put it on manual. The garden needs some TLC and cleaning of paths etc. No extra toilet rolls which we would normally expect for the price paid.
Lily house is a great place to stay, we would definitely use it again.
Tracey
Really lovely house, well set out for larger family or group holiday. Every utensil and cooking pot for large dinners. Games and books available. Good size bedrooms with comfortable beds. Close to shops and beach, bus stop very close. We had a great time with Lily House as our base.
Lovely house with everything you could want and in a great location. Easy to get to the good beaches of Minehead and also other attractions across the area. Property accommodated 3 generations of our family happily. This was our second visit as we had such a great holiday last summer
Robert
Excellent house everything we wanted was there. We really enjoyed our stay!
Antoon
The house was well maintained and situated in a quiet area of Minehead but not far from the centre and the sea. The furnishings were a bit old fashioned. Large kitchen. Two lounges. The bathrooms could do with a bit of updating. One bathroom was rather on the small side. A good place to visit the area.
Lily house is a lovely property but the garden lets it down a bit. The seating area in the garden is so overgrown so we couldnt use it when we had a BBQ. Also there was no milk left in the fridge for when we arrived as stated. Just little things I know but hopefully feed back helps. Also the TV in second bedroom doesnt work however it wouldnt stop me from booking Lily House again.
Lily House is a lovely big house , plenty of room for large family ,all the bedrooms large , plenty of storage ,super big kitchen and utility room . Walk to the beach about 20 min for us but we had children , pushchair and a beach cart !!! Lots of games and chairs in garden shed. Only thing missing no coat hooks , huge utility room with large empty wall ideal for a row of hooks . Had to hang on chairs , over doors etc luckily not a wet week ! Such a simple thing to make a huge difference Loved Lily house
Lily house is a large well equipped characterful house with 4 comfortable bedrooms. However, the kitchen, bathrooms and wc are looking tired and in need of refurbishment. In its current condition I do not believe it justifies its outstanding rating.
Patricia
A beautiful house full of character , a lovely warm welcome when we arrived ,with heating on. Just great . Basket of goodies to be enjoyed during stay . Found some good eating out places very near and easy flat walk. The house is surrounded on all side by garden and would be great for a family. Minehead is a great place to visit ,lots of interesting places to see. Thankyou
Robert
Had a lovely stay, thank you. A short walk to town was perfect. Super welcome pack of coffee tea, honey and apple juice and other goodies very much appreciated. Very clean and well appointed house. Thanks again.
Had a great stay at Lily House, absolutely everything you need is provided, welcome pack was appreciated. It is central to town and beach, short walk or car. Nice garden to sunbathe if wanted. The house was lovely, spacious and comfortable, would definitely stays again.
Probably the best Sykes house we have stayed at, a lovely welcome pack. The gas fires and central heating kept us nice and warm. Plenty of parking, a fabulous fridge freezer, only a short walk to the shops and sea front. It was lovely to see a draw full of spare bulbs and batteries, probably the first time we have been to a Sykes let and haven't had to buy a bulb. We would definitively recommend this property.
Hilary
We arranged the weekend with our son and his family, Lily house was our choice of accomodation and it didn't disappoint. The Christmas trees were a lovely touch the house was clean ,warm ,and very well equipped. We would happily recommend to others.
Debbie
Our second stay at Lily House and it was perfect. Lovely welcome basket. The house is very clean. Everything you could need.
Our second visit and I would never think of staying anywhere else when returning to the area . Perfect location with everything you need within an easy level walk , town, beach , Butlins for the children , the only time during the week we took the car out was to visit the excellent Tropiquaria Wildlife Park. Great communication from the owners prior to the holiday and probably the best welcome pack from the many we have enjoyed from the countless Sykes holidays over the years. The house has everything you could possibly need and we all agreed had the most comfortable beds imaginable. Thank you for everything. David Gamble
Christine
My grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the games. Spacious property. We really liked it. Couldn't find a DVD as mentioned in the facilities.
Louise
Another fantastic stay at Lily House. Could not ask for better hosts or a nicer house. The children and adults all appreciate the space and facilities and it suits our needs perfectly.
Debbie
Lily House is a perfect holiday home. We loved everything about it. We arrived to a lovely welcome pack which was very thoughtful. We didnt have young children but there was lots to entertain them including garden games if needed. A short walk to the beach and town all on the flat no hills which was great for my elderly Father. Would recommend and definitely hope to return. Communication with owner was brilliant.
Lilly house was very comfortable. The beds were amazing and we slept well. It was very useful too, to have laundry facilities. Situated on what could potentially be, a busy street, we didnt notice any annoying noise levels. The house is easily accessible from the main road. Had we stayed during a colder month, we would have used the log burner. The shower was very good. The fish and chip shop just up the road is also very good. The basket of goodies we discovered on arrival was much appreciated. Our only criticism is the standard of the blue wooden garden table and chairs and the shed. We decided against exploring the outdoor games, etc further than opening the shed door, as the smell inside was not nice. Possibly mice? But on the whole, we had a very comfortable relaxing stay which is what we had intended.
Shirley
We wanted to book our next stay before ending this one! Comfortable, and cozy home with all the bits you need. A very welcome welcome pack with lots of local goodies. The fresh coastal air was so delicious and exploting town and the seafront was lovely. A rejuvinating break. Thank you.
Beautiful house with a lovely welcoming feel to it. Close enough to sea and town to walk in, yet surrounded by lovely mature park and tree lined avenues. Very well appointed. Parking space is a great advantage and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. We loved our stay in Lily House thank you o
We stayed for a week 4 adults and two children 4 yrs and 14 mths. A lovely clean, comfortable, spacious, child friendly home. There is a travel cot with mattress, high chair and a decent buggy under the stairs. We were unaware there was a buggy, prior to arriving and it would have saved on luggage space if we had known, maybe our fault for not asking!. Beds extremely comfortable, lots of soft towels provided. The weather wasn't great so having a utility room in which to keep all the boots, shoes, bags and beach stuff was so useful. Plus having the use of a great washing machine and tumble dryer was a real bonus. The games selection is rather basic and most games have pieces missing or need batteries, so best to take your own games. No kids toys there either so take your own. Really enjoyed our stay and it was a lovely home to go back to after a day out.
Gareth
We booked this as a base for cycling in Devon. The location was superb with Minehead seafront a mere 5 minute walk. Exmor was a superb area to ride and more than met my expectations.
William
Owners were very facilitating
Timothy
Fantastic house in great location. Perfect for family of four with two little ones. Really well presented.
Great house for us to explore Minehead and beyond from. The bedrooms were really comfortable and quiet. The multiple bathroomsshowers came in very handy with 4 adults. The kitchen is a great size and had just about everything we needed. The garden was lovely to sit in of an evening. Would highly recommend. You need to take things like cling film, tin foil and your own condiments as in Covid related times it wouldn't work to leave them behind for other guests. There are plenty of shops nearby to get everything you need. There were some lovely really personal touches the chocolates were the best i have ever tasted and the selection of different teas a lovely idea. There is a great curry house nearby in Alcombe that is definitely worth a visit or a takeaway. We had our two children who are adults and wheelchair users and it was very easy to be able to push them into town as it is lovely and flat. All in all a great stay.
There was a problem with the heating downstairs and the hot water supply on the last day or so. My daughterinlaw left a message for the owner as it was quite difficult getting everyone up and ready on the last morning when there was no hot water. This did not happen the last time we came so it must have been a one off. We hope so and that it can be fixed before the next people come. . As regards the heating, we found that it was not very efficient downstairs and had to put on the gas fires even though the weather was relatively mild. We did appreciate the Christmas decorations which were much more plentiful than last time and added to our enjoyment.. We all enjoyed the house itself and its facilities it is a good place for a larger party and my grandson wants to come again in 2 years time when it's our turn to spend Christmas with the family. Thank you, too, for the welcome tray of goodies! Minehead is great for Christmas with its seafront and also the grounds at Dunster Castle to walk off Christmas food! One thing that would help us would be to have a wash basin in each bedroom the upstairs bathroom is relatively small for 4 bedrooms and its occupants. Otherwise a lovely place to stay.
Arthur
This house is in a quiet street within 15 minutes walk of all town shops, pubs and restaurants. Private parking at rear is a bonus.Had all facilities one could need in a large house, wood burner in large kitchen if needed. All in all a very clean, pleasant holiday home.Would recommend for family.
Catherine
The location of Lily House is extremely good for exploring Minehead. The house is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped for children. We would highly recommend it for families.
Very well comfortable property suited our need hope to go back again
Ronald
Lily house provided plenty of space and comfort and with the close proximity of the shops and beach made our stay very enjoyable.
The garden needs to be attended to very overgrown and the car parking area needs to be cleaned up.
The ideal choice for a family with young children as everything is so close to hand and within walking distance . Lily house was very well equipped and one of the most comfortable that we have stayed in during the last 30 years or so. Highly recommended.
Loved the space, would love to visit again
It is a very spacious house in a good location in Minehead. Lots of extras like games for children including a Wii. Sandy beach within walking distance. Close to shops and many places to eat. Off road parking.
We had a comfortable stay at Lily house. We were 6 adults and 2 children. The rooms are good sized and the kitchen well equipped. The front garden is lovely but the back garden is a bit small. We found the rent is a bit expensive especially that the toilets are bit rough and need redecoration. Also some of the furniture was quite old. Overall, I would give the cottage 3.55.
Suzanne
Very spacious house located within easy reach of the beach and supermarkets. We arrived to a lovely welcome gift and a wealth of extras to help make the stay enjoyable. These included a barbecue, swing ball and a large Connect 4 for outdoors activities, and Wii console, dvds and games for the evenings. Very well equipped kitchen including a coffee machine and a wide range of coffee pods and herbal teas. Plates and bowls for picnics were also provided. Cot, stair gate and high chair available. Very comfortable beds with high quality linen and towels. One off road parking space but no problem getting additional free parking on the road. Some noise from road as bedrooms not double glazed. Would definitely book again if returning to the area.
Where improvements could be made 1. The instructions to find the house were not easy. We needed to turn RIGHT into King George Road and the house was on the RIGHT HAND corner as we turned in. We saw the left hand part of King George Road and turned left which was wrong but as there were no instructions....! 2.Although there were 3 Christmas trees only ONE was of a good size and apart from a lovely wreath on the front door there were no room decorations at all which was disappointing. We have often rented houses at Christmas which have been decorated but these decorations were a bit minimal. 3.As regards equipment, the kitchen knives were not at all sharp. Fortunately we brought some of our own otherwise there would have been a problem. Praise Generally we loved the house and there was so much room. The bedrooms were particularly well furnished and appointed. We also loved the spacious kitchen especially the coffee machine. Please will you give our thanks to the owners who left a very generous tray of gifts for us. We much appreciated this! As regards feedback, only publish the complimentary ones!
