Greenslades Reviews

Elaine
Very comfortable and clean accommodation. Owners and Staff very helpful.
George
All 8 of us 5 adults, 1 toddler, 2 dogs really enjoyed our time at Greenslades, we are already considering booking another holiday as the cottage was so spacious and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The location was superb with a short walk into the village but also not far to drive around Exmoor.
Christine
Very comfortable a well appointed property. Well equippedcleanwelcoming.would highly recommend. Some people might find the steep steps down to the back door slightly inconvenient, but there is an alternative route down and over the lawn.
Corrie
The house is very spacious and all the necessities to start you off are provided tea, milk, toiletpaper. The logs for the fire were very much appreciated. The kitchen is well equipped, but most of the pans need to be replaced, we think. The large cooker in the kitchen is a big plus. The beds were comfortable.
We found Greenslades to be very comfortable and well provisioned. It is in a delightful location with great views and a lovely garden. The welcome cake was amongst the best we have had and very welcome at the end of a journey. We would definitely consider the property if visiting the area again.
Judy was a great host with good communication, one of our party is ill and Judy arranged with Lorna to have a bedroom ready early so she could rest. Lorna made sure that everything was ready and the whole cottage was so clean and left warm and cosy for us. The cottage is beautiful and has everything that you need for a relaxing stay, the beds were comfortable and perfect for us as a group of 4. It was so quiet and peaceful we heard owls at night. Our only disappointment was that we never got to use the 2 gorgeous log burners because the weather was so mild and the cottage was so cosy warm. We were sad to be leaving. We would 100 recommend ths cottage.
A spacious, comfortable cottage, well equipped and perfect for a large family holiday. Great location.
Really enjoyed our four night stay in this well equipped comfortable property. We had trips to Porlock Weir, Valley of the Rocks and Selworthy to name a few which were a short drive away. Would definitely recommend.
Cosy and comfortable, clean and wellequipped. Garden proved secure, even against an inquisitive cocker spaniel. A great location for exploring further afield, or just wandering the local lanes and footpaths. Exford is great with all the facilities you probably need and all the locals are very friendly. White Horse Inn suited us just fine whatever time of day, whilst the Crown Hotel's business hours were awkward. Overall, really good.

The facilities were very good and the beds were comfortable and the property was clean. It would have been nice to know about the access to the property before booking, both vehicular and on foot. Tight turn getting in and out of driveway. Also there is no T.V signal downstairs for freeview so could only watch streaming services which was a disappointment for ourselves. Overall we were very happy with our stay and appreciated the cake and milk that awaited us on arrival. We would definitely stay again.
Richard
We had a lovely week at Greenslades. It provided a peaceful base for our exploring of Exmoor and a wonderful garden to sit under the pegola and enjoy the views. The sitting room provided a coool hiding place from the extreem temperatures we had on a couple of afternoons with its very thick walls. Our bedroom was very comfortable and the shower in the main bathroom was a great size and plenty of waterflow. All in all a very enjoyable week. Thank you.
A really nice, comfortable cottage with very good facilities and it was immaculately clean. The beds were very comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep. The garden is very well kept and has a nice seating area where we were able to watch a pair of roe deer in the field opposite in the evenings as well as many different types of birds when sitting out there. The chocolate cake left for us was gorgeous. We will return as we had a great time there.
We all love Greenslades, the garden was looking lovely, weather was good and our horses all enjoyed themselves too ! Just booked for next year !
Exford is a good location for a base to explore Exmoor and the nearby coast and the cottage is great for a family group in our case 3 mature couples. Downstairs the kitchen is large and extremely well equipped and the lounge has plenty of space for relaxing in the evening. The beds upstairs were comfortable and it worked well having 2 ensuites and a separate bathroom for the 3rd bedroom. Despite the instructions from the owners we struggled to find the cottage the first time a sign saying Greenslades as you approach the fork in the road would be helpful as you can't see the house sign until you've driven past the turning into the drive! The owners have provided a really detailed file about the house and the area best we've ever seen and the fresh milk and home made cake on arrival were very welcome.

It was just a joy! I'm sure you get moans and groans as people always find something to moan about, we had a lovely time, heating was set which was nice to come into as it wasn't warm on our stay. Cake on side, beds made and 910 for cleanliness so what else can you ask for... Bigger tv that's all as I'm deaf and struggled with subtitles from the sofa in the evening but that's just me being cheeky! Loved it!

Had a minor glitch on arrival but soon sorted by the owner and many thanks to Lorna the Caretaker a real gem of a lady. Garden well tended on arrival lawns cut and the property had everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. Walking distance to Exford and a peaceful place to stay, thoroughly enjoyed.
Greenslades is lovely cottage for exploring Exmoor. Comfortable beds and bathrooms with showers. One ensuite could do with upgrading next time the owners are reviewing the property. Our extended family found it comfortable and we would all go back there. The light over the hob was not working but the maintenance man had been alerted and had it in hand. We appreciated that everything required for cooking and preparing meals was provided and used the BBQ a couple of times. The younger members enjoyed the table tennis and archery. The garden was private and well fenced for the dog who also had a good time. Having a local shop a pleasant walk away in the village added to the plusses
This is our 3rd stay at Greenslades, so that speaks for itself ! ps Coffee cake was delicious, a lovely touch to provide us with one.
Greenslades was exactly as described on the website. The owners gave us all the details we needed to enjoy our stay. The house was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. Many many thanks. Best wishes. Paul
An amazing place to stay. So comfortable, spotlessly clean, spacious with everything you could possibly need in situ. The bedrooms and bathrooms were superb. A short walk into the village of Exford with lovely pubs and friendly people made us wish we had booked a longer stay but we will be going back.
A lovely property and perfect for a long weekend on Exmoor. Extremely comfortable accommodation. Half mile walk to the village centre and its pubs hotels and shop made for a very enjoyable and relaxed time.
Anthony
Lovely spacious property in Exford, walkable to shop & pubs. Comfy beds & the zip & link bed super large & comfy ...good nights sleep had by all. Everything you could want for a relaxing holiday.
Jacqueline
Great weekend away. House easily catered for the 7 of us with lots of room and was well equipped every thing you need is there. Lovely part of the world will definitely be back Thank you and the cake and milk was a lovely touch after our 2.5 hour journey.
A lovely cottage really well equipped and extremely comfortable. Beautifully warm even in a very cold week. Great communication from the owner with plenty of advice on walks and activities in the area. Exford is a lovely village with 2 great pubshotels.
Stuart
We enjoyed our recent stay at Greenslades, it was wet and dreary weather most of the week, mind you it's mid Nov and on Exmoor so to be expected. So it was nice to get back to a warm and cosy cottage after each day out. Although there's two woodstoves we only used the smaller dining area one for background warm, as the main central heating was excellent. We found everything we needed for our stay was provided, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. A home from home.
This was a fantastic house, warm and welcoming with great facilities. We were a family group ranging from 189 and it worked very well for us. The information sent by the owner prior to our stay was very helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay in Exmoor.
Sharon Theresa
Our second time at this lovely house. The house is very comfortable, clean, and spacious. Great garden with lovely views over the countryside. Nice touch that they leave milk and a lovely homemade cake on arrival. Would definitely return.
Lovely spacious house well equipped for a comfortable stay. The house is perfectly positioned for a short circular walk into Exford for the shop, playground and pubs.
We had a wonderful few days at Greenslades. It was perfect for our family gathering with everything we needed, comfortable beds and just that lovely home from home feeling. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather, so had drinks and meals outside, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the lovely garden and surrounding area. Wonderful walks from the house and an easy walk or cycle ride down to the village for supplies and a cheeky pint.
Greenslades is an exceptional cottage spacious and very comfortable, the dining area in the garden with such beautiful wisteria and wonderful panoramic views of the countryside really made our holiday. The cottage is ideally situated for trips to Lynmouth and Porlock and many other places. The owners of the cottage have left ample leaflets and ideas for a Taylor made holiday..whats not to enjoy
Sharon Theresa
This house is fantastic it was so comfortable and spacious it has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is ideally located close to Exford village which has two good pubs and a well stocked village shop. It has stunning views over the countryside which can be seen from the lovely garden. We will definitely return to this house.
Rachel
This holiday was perfect! The booking, payment, key collection and information process was seamlessly easy. Greenslades Cottage was absolutely gorgeous in every way a beautiful property, with every possible need provided for. There was a large chocolate cake, a litre of milk in the fridge, and two vases of daffodils for us when we arrived. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautiful, with big comfy beds, excellent power showers and lovely bath sheets provided. There was plenty of room for all of us .5 adults, 2 children and a large dog and everything was spotlessly clean. It was early March and one day there were 5 inches of snow, but the cottage was always warm and cosy There was plenty of fire wood provided for the burners in the sitting room and dining room, but we didn't need to use it. None of us wanted to leave, so we would definitely recommend Greenslades to others and the Sykes company for their efficient and accurate operation.
Absolutely perfect for two families to share with plenty of space and privacy. Clean, warm and comfortable, a well equipped kitchen and two lovely fires. Spotless bathrooms with hot, powerful showers, perfect for relaxing after a walk on the moors. Recommend the White Horse pub in the village. We would love to return!!
Warm welcome with cake and daffodils, home is spacious and ideal for extended family get togethers ideally situated for Exmoor and surrounding areas.
Steven
Delightful cottage in a lovely village. Really nice bedrooms, cosy lounge with log burner & the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Would definitely recommend. Lovely pub in the village White Horse Inn. We had a couple of lovely meals there. Beautiful area to explore.
Anthony
We had a lovely stay at Greenslades a very comfortable, spacious house set in a good garden which Basil our dog also loved and failed to escape from! A lot of thought has gone into providing all that we would need on a holiday and even the weather was better than had been forecast The location is great within easy reach of both the coast and moorland walks and with plenty of good pubs round and about. We hope to return with more of the family.
Rachel
Fantastic cottage in a great location. We had a wonderful week. The cottage has everything you need and more besides. Everything has been finished to a high spec making the stay a very comfortable one. Beautiful well maintained garden can be enjoyed by all and is perfect for a dog. Great pubs close by and the beach only a 20 min drive. We will definitely be back.
Nice property & location, could have done with a better clean. Difficult access into the drive which was very steep it underplayed the steps down from the drive to the house.
Barrie
A nice cottage in a good place Ideal for visiting other places a safe garden for ...
