30 West Street Reviews

Caroline
Absolutely loved this cottage, would stay again and definitely recommend. There were 7 adults, one child and 3 dogs and the house was big enough for all of us and the dogs! Great garden area to rear with steps up to an area for the dogs which was perfect. Very clean and everything supplied in kitchen so we had an Easter Sunday roast. Short walk to town centre and short drive to many other places and some great beaches. Will revisit and thanks for a great break!
Lovely spacious house in the centre of the village. Very clean, tidy and warm. Two great bathrooms, large kitchen and cosy sitting room.
Richard
Perfect holiday home to explore Watchet and the local area. A real home from home with the bonus of 2 secure, offroad parking spaces. Very dog friendly and spotlessly clean. The open fire was a great way to end the day after a day exploring a beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended, we hope to be back.
Claire
Third time weve used Sykes, and unfortunately this time even though the cottage was quirky and extremely convenient for everything it was looking a little tired and could do with some tlc on things like door handles, paintwork, bed knobs Was a tidy let but not the cleanest. That probably sounds really picky, but its not meant to be as we honestly had a fab time there and in the area just want to be honest. We did have excellent communication from the owner Elaine from the start and with a query we had. We would book it again as we had a perfect family holiday with a mix of adults, small people and dogs.
Jacqueline
Beautiful accommodation, as described. Great location with everything you could want or need. Beds comfortable and both bathrooms of a high spec. Only slight niggle is the seating in the lounge is not comfortable should you want to spend an evening watching to. Not a deal breaker. Would definitely book again. Thank you Sykes, another lovely property.
Another great week at West Street. Our second visit and hopefully will return again. Plenty of space and ideal family accommodation. Good location.
As a group of 6 adults, 2 babies and a dog, we found this property to be very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The cottage spread over 3 floors is well designed and offers spacious accommodation. The property is in a great location, just a short stroll to the harbour, shops, pubs and cafes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thank the owner and housekeeping for their communications and efforts.
Louise
30 West Street is a lovely, large property suitable for a family. The rooms were spacious and the property benefitted from modern, well designed bathroom and ensuite shower room. The communal areas on the ground floor were comfortable and homely.
We had a lovely week at 30 West street and it suited our family of 5 well. The property was very clean and dog friendly. Kitchen and bathrooms are lovely and very tastefully decorated. Shower is great. Location was perfect, 2 minute walk down to beach and 5 minute walk to shops and Coop. Communication with the owner was good and issues promptly dealt with. Oven mittens were sent to arrive the next day after we let the owner know that the current ones had holes in and the other ones had gone missing. The washing machine had broken before we arrived which the owner let us know about and it was fixed before we left. The small rear courtyard is a nice secluded place to sit and the few steps up to the small garden behind was useful for our dog. Worth checking the rear gate is closed as one time it was left open when a neighbour came through with his push bike. We would have liked a toaster rather than using the grill which was so quick I kept burning it! If a party of 8 stayed we werent sure where everyone would sit in the kitchen and lounge. Top floor rooms were hot in the heat wave and some fans would have been good. Overall, we had a lovely week and would recommend this property.
Really nice house, no complaints at all.
Samantha
The house is in a great location for exploring the area and only a short walk to the beach, pub shops etc. The kitchen is really well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and the ensuite has a really good shower The house is very dog friendly with easy to clean floors and the provision of large crates is great so you don't need to take your own. The owner sent us a detailed guide including all of the appliance instructions prior to our holiday which was really helpful. We had a great weeks stay and would book again.
Enjoyed our weeks stay close to the harbour & shops
Joanna
Very clean with spacious bedrooms but could really do with chairs and mirror in each. Sitting room and kitchen furniture not very comfortable and heavy to move. Felt the frosted glass at the bottom of sitting room and bedroom windows unnecessary and made it feel quite enclosed. Very pleasantly surprised by the courtyard with elderly but ample furniture, but it could do with a bit of maintenance. Now we are more or less post covid, a few suitable pages of instructions for the microwave and huge range would be far less frustrating than trying to find it on line. Make sure you take dishwasher tablets with you. Short walk to interesting harbour and town. We enjoyed rediscovering the area after many years.
A lovely house in a beautiful location with lots of amenities. Great base for exploring the Somerset coast line.
Sharron
Our party of six humans and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay number 30 was super clean, cosy, wellequipped and a stones throw from the beach, a great cider bar and the shops. Thankyou!
Belinda
Fantastic 2 week holiday at 30 west street. Lovely cozy cottage. We could not of asked for anything better. A very welcoming clean cottage which was a big bonus. Beautiful, quaint friendly village. Dog friendly too. Lots of walks near by and our furry babies loved their holiday too. Thank you for making our holiday enjoyable, cozy and comfortable.
The property was wonderful it was very dog friendly which made our holiday more relaxing as the dogs were made as welcome as us. We would recommend this property to friends and family and hopefully stay there again. It was also very close to all the shops and a lovely beach less than 100meters away.
Elaine
Upstairs excellent, downstairs no . Sofa in lounge not comfy and no proper dining room to eat we ended up with trays on our knees in the lounge to eat our meals
Excellent holiday cottage
Only downside was the seating in living room, very uncomfortably.
Christine
A lovely cottage in Watchet, furnished in the minimalistic style for easy cleaning so still no items like toaster or mirrors. What marred our holiday was the none return of our 250 even though the cottage had been left in an excellent state. I emailed the owner twice to no avail with no reply given. Sykes then phoned her seven days after we returned home but she didnt answer. Sykes finally got through on the Monday when the excuse was she forgot!!! Make your own minds up.
It was a lovely cottage. Looked very small from the outside until you walked in. Rooms were decorated to a high standard and kitchen was very well equipped. Will definitely be booking again, close to beach and pubs a stone throw away. Only issues were people parking right out side the property who never had permits and people using your bins outside to dump there takeaways in. Carpet on the 1st floor landing had stains on there and a couple more mirrors
Brilliant accommodation very close to Watchet centre. Dogs
We had a fabulous time staying in this excellent property. The fixtures and fittings are top quality and the house was very welcoming, we and the dogs felt right at home instantly. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Communication with the owner was easy and they couldnt have been more helpful.
Comfortable cottage, spacious and very well equipped
The accommodation was lovely, spacious, very clean, refurbished to a extremely high standard with lovely modern appliances, range cooker, american fridgefreezer etc, Exceedingly dog friendly house. Loved the open fire, and the availability of sky, had a lovely large bath, the bedrooms were spacious but could really do with mirrors this could easily be rectified with long free standing mirror in each bedroom this would make the bedrooms perfect. Watchet it self is a nice place to stay very dog friendly and there is some lovely areas nearby to visit.
Patricia
Recently refurbished house with stylish fittings. Very clean many thanks to Michelle and her team. Great location close to centre and a real bonus to have two parking permits rather one. We were also delighted to discover the T.V. had Netflix and Amazon Prime perfect for long winter evenings. Super for our doggies with crates, bowls and throws provided. Thank you.
Norman
Fantastic Property in Great Location The house is like home from home well equipped and positioned in a great location. The standard of cleaning was very high with the kitchen being well equipped to provide for ones every needs. Marvellous extra large bath ideal to relax in after a long day of exploring. It is so close to all amenities with the town having a great variety of venues to eat and drink plus lots of entertainment on hand in the various pubs. But the icing on the cake for us was that our dogs had everything that they wanted and settled within 15 minutes of arriving plus the owners were very thoughtful providing extra dog bowls and throws. Congratulations to the owners for making our holiday so enjoyable and we will be back.
This property is over priced for what you get. PROS GOOD POSITION GOOD PARKING FACILITIES AND GOOD MODERN BATHROMS AND KITICHEN UTLITIES. CONS CLINICAL AND UN INTERESTING DECOR. LACK OF LOCAL INFORMATION AND PLACES TO VISIT ETC LOUNGE SEATI NG VERY UN COMFORTABLE AS TV WRONGLY SITUATED IN RELATIOIN TO SEATING POSITIONS LACK OF TOASTER AND MICROWAVE NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF NEW KITCHEN COOKER BED KNOBS LOOSE AND SOME OFF MODERN BATH NOT SUITABLE FOR INFRIMED OR ELDERLY PERSONS NO BOOK TO WRITE DEFECTS IN OR MAKE COMMENTS. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE UNTIL THE ABOVE COMMENTS ARE ADDRESSED AS WE HAVE BEEN TO WATCHET WE KNEW WHERE TO GO LOCALLY FOR PUBS ETC BUT FOR OTHERS IT IS NOT ADVISABLE..
A brilliant location for my first visit to Somerset! Although small, Watchet has the all the facilities one could wish, as well as access to the steam train and coastal explorer buses a real hidden gem! West Street is a 5 minute walk from the harbour, and the onsite parking was a real bonus. I had a few problems with the top floor shower, which drained very slowly and the right hand side of the cooker didn't seem to work cooking is not really my thing so this could well just have been me! Also I couldn't find the blue bag for recycling plastic so took it home with me! Previous occupants seemed to have left mixed recycling in the top garden instead of in the clearly labelled crates to the side of the property, as a result this could do with a bit of a tidy Generally however West St. was very well provisioned with some interesting and stylish touches! A really comfortable stay in a great location to which I would very happily return.
More is the pity we had no dogs because this cottage is a 5star hotel for them, everything is geared up for them it is superb. My wife and I took my son, daughter in law,and 2 grandchildren, with us to Watchett and we had a great time, the cottage was fabulous clean, tidy, and comfortable it is situated perfectly to the town so everything is within walking distance. The owner is a lovely lady and Michelle who looks after the cottage is great she is there to help and advise at all times and shes a Villa fan lol.
Bedrooms needs a mirror for the ladies and the kitchen needs a toaster It ... Bedrooms needs a mirror for the ladies and the kitchen needs a toaster It would also be beneficial if the instructions for the cooker and TV were available The back patio needed cleaning and the hose pipe needs attention as its leaking Overall we enjoyed our stay
Fatema
Great holiday home. Kitchen appliances all newexcellent spec. Was very clean. Spacious bedrooms and living room. Fire was lovely. Kitchen a little compact when people sat round table. Weather didnt let us enjoy the garden more but nice outside space. Location excellent and great to have two parking spaces . Would love to come back when weather warmer. A few more drinking glasses is only thing I would say would improve the facilities. Best holiday cottage have stayed in .
Adrian
The cottage was equipped with modern appliances and the beds were very comfortable. For most of our stay there were 5 of us, sometimes 6 which was fine but I think although you could accommodate 8 that might be a squeeze especially if the weather was too bad to go out. The large fridge freezer was very useful as was the dishwasher. Good to have off road parking opposite as West Street is quite narrow. All in all an enjoyable stay.
Great location and a very friendly village. The cottage was very well equipped however if you enjoy cooking, bring your own sharp knives and blender. Great for family stays however more than two couples might find the downstairs living areas a bit of a squeeze. The whole house was super dog friendly as was the whole village so youll be very happy if you bring your dog even blankets provided if you wanted to have your dog on the settee with you. Overall, this is a lovely property and would definitely stay again. Thank you to the owner for sharing your lovely property.
Super property which we found perfect for 2 families of 4 plus a dog. Comfy beds and plenty of space. Top end kitchen and bathroom appliances though we couldn't work out why there was no toaster! and stacks of stuff for looking after your pets including an excellent doggy washdown in the courtyard. Parking for 2 cars in a barrier controlled car park opposite the property was a bonus. 2 minutes walk to pubs and shops and seafront.
Good communication between the owner and Skyes in advance of our stay. On arriving at the period house in West Street, keys were easy to locate and on entering after a cold day, the warmth greeted you. We were 5 adults, 2 under 3's and a teenager. Also 2 small dogs There was plenty of room in the house itself, lovely large bedrooms and main bathroom, however the kitchen table was a bit of a squeeze. It does extend but the fridge freezer was in the way a little. The kitchen was well equipped with a large range cooker, a large american style fridge freezer, dishwasher, and if needed a washing machine. Plenty of plates, bowls etc and also childrens plates and forks which was useful. Outside there is a seating area which is plenty large 2 outdoor tables and chairsand then a further bench in a separate area, very quirky. Beds were comfortable and the house was very warm. The settees in the lounge were firm to sit on, but were fine for a short break. The road it is on doesn't have much traffic and its a couple of minutes to the sea and into the main shopping area. Parking was off the road in a barriered private carpark. So much to do in the local area, we'll have to return and I'd happily stay at no 30 again.
George
Seral times there was gridlock on the road outside the cottage, allthough they said this was due to resurfacing work being carried out and the traffic rerouted in to watchet. The cottage was clean and had everything for a nice relaxing stay, the cottage and village were very dog friendly.
